Welcome Fall!

9.22.2010

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. Some goals for this season include...

  • Going apple picking
  • Making yummy caramel apples
  • Making apple crisp
  • Going pumpkin picking
  • Making scary and funny Jack O' Lanterns
  • Toasting pumpkin seeds
  • Planting spring perennials like Hyacinth and Daffodils
  • Putting out our scare crow and other fall decorations
  • Taking fall hikes and collecting colorful leaves
  • Jumping in leaf piles
  • Dressing up for Halloween
  • Counting our blessings on Thanksgiving
Last fall, we had the pleasure of taking Little Lewie pumpkin picking for his very first time. In fact, it was his first time visiting a petting zoo, too. Since I didn't blog last year, I thought I'd reminisce and share some of our old photos. It's hard for me to believe that Lil' Lewie wasn't even walking yet at this time last year. He could stand and balance himself up on the fence, but when it was time to let him loose in the pumpkin patch, he just crawled and crawled from one pumpkin to the other.

Now that he's a toddler and RUNS most of the time instead of walking, it should be interesting to see what he does at the pumpkin patch this year...

What are some of your goals for this fall?

Happy Fall Everyone!

We have a bunch of fall plans too, including getting outside every non-rainy day until it snows, going pumpkin patching, and finally buying some outdoor decorations for Halloween. I can't wait to roast pumpkin seeds, have pumpkin soup and eat roasted butternut squash!

  7. Just found your blog today, and like you I too love fall. I'm from Michigan and we MIchiganders big time get into leaves, so much so that other's don't really get it. When living in Chicago, I'd visit home to go look at the leaves, and my fellow Chicagonians found that odd. Now I'm in Calgary and it pretty much goes from Summer to Winter, sad.

But rumor has it there is a corn maze, and we'll be all over that.

Would love it you could pop by and follow us if interested, we are just getting started on our bloggin.

  8. Oh, he is just so cute! Best little pumpkin in the patch...and think of how much bigger he'll seem this year when you go. I loved seeing the progression of mine each year in the pumpkin patch pictures!

I would love to go to a high school footall game and bundle up, make an apple pie, drink hot chocolate, and walk through the fallen leaves.

  9. Hey Annette! First, I hope that Aunty Sarah is doing OK. My thoughts are with you and her. Next, the pictures are so cute! We love pumpkin picking so much that we went a bunch of times last year! It was a lot of fun and we had lots of pumpkins! I kicked off fall with some apple pie ice cream at Sunny Daes. I love when they have seasonal ice cream. I can't wait to go apple picking and make an apple pie! Yummy! I hope you are well! Have a great night!

  10. Those are such great pictures! And great ideas for fall! I'm hoping to get some apples and attempt to make applesauce. And today or tomorrow Scotty and I are going to my dad's to see if my old Pumpkin costume will fit him...exciting! Last year he wasn't into Halloween very much, so hopefully this year will be more fun. So far he's getting a kick out of helping me decorate!
